"Wow, the Workshoplive thing is very cool." That was the first sentence in a message Lou recently received from a friend. Workshoplive.com is a truly revolutionary online music instruction site that offers an exciting and completely new way of learning. Lou was proud to be selected as one of the first Workshoplive instructors. His Absolute Beginner Guitar course is now available online and some intermediate acoustic lessons will follow shortly. You've seen guitar instruction sites online before but believe me you've never seen anything like Workshoplive. The site features many amazing players/teachers along with Lou and courses from beginning to master levels in acoustic, rock, blues and jazz. Its patent-pending technology delivers the first truly interactive learning experience of its kind, with visual and auditory elements that change to suit the preferences and abilities of the student. For a reasonable fee you can have access to any teacher, course or lesson 24/7. And to let you get a sneak peak they're offering a free trial membership. I hope you take a moment and check it out at Workshoplive.com. Rob and Lou have begun working on new songs and new revamped arrangements of older F & M music. And they're also added some cool new cover songs to their repertoire. They've got some surprises in store for 2006.
F & M recently played in a special program at Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Casino. And they didn't even lose their shirts. They performed a blues set and then led a large group of audience members in a blues songwriting workshop. Each group wrote an original tune which they performed at the end of the event. It was a really fun time for all with a impromptu jam/sing-a-long session that ended with a rousing Sweet Home Alabama. Who could survive the sound of 30 plus beginning harmonica players playing at the same time? That's right, F & M could! In fact they did when they recently ran a special Harmonica Seminar at the Ritz Carleton in Boston, (yes, even people staying at the Ritz can get the blues). It was a real gas for all involved. By the end Rob and Lou had given out the Blues Brothers hats and sunglasses and everyone learned enough to come up and play in a blues jam. Lou's new releases: Beginning Acoustic Blues Guitar (book), Beginning Fingerstyle Guitar (DVD). See Books Are Swell.
